Located in Omaha, Nebraska, the zoo opened in 1894 as Riverview Park Zoo and took its current name in 1963. Its roughly 160 acres hold major exhibits such as the Desert Dome, one of the world's largest indoor deserts with a nocturnal exhibit below; the Lied Jungle indoor rainforest; the Scott Aquarium, where penguins, sharks and rays can be seen from an underwater tunnel; Hubbard Gorilla Valley; and the Scott African Grasslands with elephants and giraffes. In 2014 it was named the world's best zoo by TripAdvisor reviews. The Skyfari gondola, a train and a tram are also available; plan a full day for your visit.
