The aye-aye is a member of the primitive lemur family that lives in Madagascar, and has a special foraging behavior in which it uses its extremely long middle finger to extract insects from trees. They are nocturnal and have large eyes and ears, and although their unique appearance is sometimes seen as an ominous animal, they actually play an important role in the forest ecosystem.
