About
Blue monkey. Distributed in the tropical rainforests and montane forests of central Africa, it is a diurnal, primarily arboreal monkey. It feeds mainly on fruit, and also consumes leaves, flowers, and insects. Males are about one size larger than females and carry a long, non-prehensile tail. They form matrilineal groups of 10–40 individuals with one adult male and multiple females; males leave the group upon maturity. Breeding occurs year-round; gestation is about 130 days and usually a single infant is born, with other females in the group sometimes helping with care. Conservation status: Least Concern.
