A municipal zoo of Shizuoka City located in Nihondaira, opened in 1969, housing approximately 130 species and 560 individuals. It is characterized by behavior-based exhibits that allow close observation, is also called a sanctuary for red pandas, and has the best breeding record for giant anteaters in Japan.
