About
The great grey kangaroo (Macropus giganteus) is a large grazer distributed in eastern Australia, inhabiting open grasslands and forested habitats. It uses a large stomach to digest low-quality grasses (Poaceae) through microbial fermentation. They form groups (mobs) and can move rapidly by hopping. Reproduction is seasonal; gestation lasts about 36 days and young are reared in a pouch. Conservation status: Least Concern.
