About
Prevost's squirrel (Callosciurus prevostii). Distributed widely across Southeast Asia, it inhabits rainforests as well as secondary forest, orchards, and plantations. Body length is 20–27 cm, with a tail comparable in length to the body; the basic coloration is a tricolor pattern of black, white, and reddish-orange. Diurnal and strongly arboreal, it is often solitary but multiple individuals gather at feeding sites. Diet includes seeds, fruits, flowers, insects, and bird eggs. Breeding occurs year-round; gestation is about 40 days and litters comprise 1–3 young. Because of its wide distribution, it is currently assessed as Least Concern.
