About
The Eastern gray squirrel is a diurnal tree squirrel widely distributed mainly in eastern North America, and it also appears in woodlands near human settlements. It does not hibernate and survives winter by caching food; it shows complex feeding behaviors such as selecting among types of acorns and processing embryos. It nests in trees, may breed twice a year, and its predators include mammals and birds of prey. Its conservation status is Least Concern.
