About
The Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) is distributed on the Iberian Peninsula and primarily inhabits open environments where forests and scrublands intermingle and areas around pastures. It relies mainly on the European rabbit as its primary prey, with much of its diet dependent on this species. It is nocturnal and solitary, and males tend to have larger home ranges than females. Breeding is seasonal, with mating from winter to early spring; gestation lasts about 63–66 days and typically produces 2–4 offspring. Conservation efforts have led to a trend of population recovery, but it remains classified as Critically Endangered (IUCN Red List category 1B).
