Fat-tailed dwarf lemur. A small nocturnal lemur that inhabits dry deciduous forests and riparian forests in northeastern, western, and southeastern Madagascar. It has a thick, fat-storing tail and enters torpor in tree hollows during the dry season, using the tail fat as an energy source. Its diet includes fruit, flowers, nectar, seeds, and insects. It usually lives in pair-based family groups of a male, a female, and their offspring; breeding begins after emergence from torpor, and after a gestation of about 60 days typically gives birth to twins. Conservation status: Least Concern.
