About
The roan antelope is a large bovine found in tall grasslands and savanna woodlands. It is characterized by a mane and chin beard, and both sexes have horns. They typically live in herds of about 6 to 15 individuals and remain within a reasonable distance of water. Breeding shows little seasonality; gestation lasts about 260–280 days and usually produces a single calf. Populations are declining due to human activities, and the IUCN lists the species as Least Concern.
