About
The bharal (Pseudois nayaur), also known as the Himalayan blue sheep, is a caprine that primarily inhabits cliffs and rocky areas at elevations of 2,500–5,500 m. It moves adeptly over rugged terrain, and its coat coloration can blend into the background. It feeds on grasses, mosses, and lichens, and its main predators include snow leopards and wolves. Herd size varies considerably with the season; the breeding season occurs near winter, and births are seen in early summer. The IUCN lists it as Least Concern.
