About
Diana monkey. A beautiful guenon that inhabits the moist forests of West Africa and primarily occupies the forest canopy. It mainly eats fruit, and also consumes flowers, leaves, and insects. It lives in single-male, multi-female groups of 15–30 individuals, and mature males leave their natal groups. They sometimes play a role in warning their group and other species with alarm calls. Breeding is seasonal and usually results in a single offspring. Populations have declined due to habitat loss from human activities and hunting, and the species is classified as threatened.
